Model railway - Baureihe 44

This powerful steam locomotive was the heavier cousin of the BR 50. Like the BR 50, it was designed according to the principles of the Einheitslok program. It had three cylinders, all of which were fed directly from the boiler with no compounding. Due to its higher power, the BR 44 was used with heavy goods trains especially in mountainous region.

The Märklin model I have comes from the Märklin set 26558, where it is bundled with ten steel pipe wagons. The frame and boiler are made of metal, with the cab and tender being plastic. The locomotive is equipped with an MFX decoder and sound effects.
